The Speech Path Inc. is an independently owned speech-language pathology practice that provides a select range of personalized services to children, teens and adults in a comfortable and professional setting. The Speech Path is the Ontario distributor for the SpeechEasy® Altered Auditory Feedback device.

speech_easy_textSpeechEasy® is an electronic stuttering inhibiting device that looks like and is worn like a hearing aid. It delivers Altered Auditory Feedback (AAF): a combination of Delayed Auditory Feedback and Frequency Altered Feedback. While SpeechEasy® may seem to be a quick fix for stuttering, it is not that simple. Active listening is essential to obtaining fluency enhancing results. An assessment is required prior to placing an order to help you make an informed treatment choice.

Meet Your SpeechEasy® Provider…Carla-Di-Domenicantonio-168x240

Carla Di Domenicantonio is a Master of Health Science, and Registered Speech-Language Pathologist with over 30 years of clinical work experience. She developed an interest in the treatment of stuttering during her first position at a community hospital where she worked with individuals of all ages with various communication disorders, including stuttering. Since that time, Carla has worked with hundreds of people who stutter and their families, individually and in group settings. She helped establish an independent support group for adults who stutter in 1987, a group which continues to meet at her practice in Burlington.

A Clinical Faculty member at the School of Communicative Sciences and Disorders, University of Western Ontario, Carla has trained and supervised graduate students in Speech-Language Pathology since 2011 within the context of a yearly intensive stuttering therapy camp open to children, teenagers, and adults. She is also a member of the Lidcombe Trainers Consortium, a group that provides training to Speech-Language Pathologists in the Lidcombe Program for early stuttering intervention.

Carla’s involvement with the SpeechEasy® device started in 2003, shortly after it was introduced to Canada. She has since assessed individuals and demonstrated the device to hundreds of people who stutter.

A SpeechEasy® assessment offers individuals two things: First, it provides the opportunity to assess whether the AAF combination can be a viable treatment option for you. Second, it will help you make an informed decision about SpeechEasy®.

In private practice since 2006, Carla is passionate about and dedicated to providing services to children, adolescents and adults in the areas of auditory processing, language development, speech sound development, and written language development, in addition to providing help for stuttering and related fluency disorders. She looks forward to welcoming you to her practice.
